Part 2 The Perfect Wedding Gift

Posted by

When you first learn you're invited to attend the wedding of friends or family that are dear to you, it's both exciting and overwhelming. You have to figure out transportation, which hotel to stay at, and what wedding gift to get the bride and groom. The wedding gift in particular can cause all kinds of stress: how much should you spend, should you get a separate gift for both of them, what if they're not registered?

Here are some tips to help you select the perfect wedding gift:

Budget

Though it is the thought that counts, the general rule is that the closer you are to the bride and groom, the more you should spend on a wedding gift. However, never spend more than you can afford.

Registry

If the bride and groom are registered, you'll likely want to check out what they have listed when you're deciding to purchase their wedding gift. If they haven't registered, or there's nothing on the registry you can afford, you'll need to work a bit harder.

Gift Baskets

If you know both the bride and the groom and you have a general idea of what they like, you should seriously consider getting them a gift basket. A gift basket may contain bottles of wine, candy, vouchers for a play, or anything else you can think of. Do your best to personalize it for the bride and groom.

Handmade Wedding Gifts

If you're looking for something that is handmade / handcrafted, look for quilts,

Ultimately, it is the thought that counts, and the more thought you put into your wedding gift, the more the bride and groom will appreciate the amount of time you invested in finding something you knew they would love.
